Equipment

  • 1 deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot
  • 1 thermometer for oil temperature
  • 1 wire rack for draining

Ingredients

Chicken Strips

  • 1 lb chicken tenders
  • 2 cups buttermilk

Breading

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs beaten

Instructions

Preparation

  • Place chicken tenders in a bowl and cover with buttermilk. Let marinate for at least one hour or overnight for best results.
  • Mix flour, breadcrumbs, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  • Remove chicken from buttermilk, let excess drip off. Dredge in flour mixture, dip in eggs, then coat with breadcrumbs.

Cooking

  • In a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot, heat oil to 350°F. Use a thermometer to maintain the temperature.
  • Carefully place chicken strips in hot oil, frying in batches. Cook for 4-5 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Remove chicken strips and place on a wire rack to drain excess oil and maintain crispiness.

Serving

  • Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauces and sides.

Storage

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in an oven at 350°F for 10 minutes to retain crispiness.
